St. Albans Book Reading

The kind people of St. Albans town hall were kind enough to do a reading of my book 'Ghosts in the Snow', which went down really well!
The new owners are trying to turn St. Albans town hall into an arts centre, so it was great to try and give a hand! Hopefully it'll be holding regular events in no time.

We had two shows throughout the day, starting with the eco-animation-and music- extravaganza Rockford's Rock Opera and then ending with two stories read out to groups of about 30 people, kids and adults alike. It all went down really well. Good, good stuff. A big thanks to Joel Bailie-Lane for sorting this out and to Anna for reading my story.

In the mean-time, have a good Christmas!

Editorial Illustration

Well, it does seem like a while since i last updated this badboy, so I thought I'd better take care of that. I can't show anything that I'm currently working on until it's slightly further down the line, so I've posted some older illustrations, for your deliectation.

These two are editorial illustrations I did, one for an article concerning the effect the recent Sichuan province earthquake is going to have on China's youth, and a slightly more light hearted one revolving around blondes getting all the male attention. True story? I'll let you decide.
These weren't published, they were just practice illustrations i did once i graduated to keep the ol' pen hand moving. Yeah. A great cheer for Tom and Fran (and everyone else who has given me comments) who have so kindly been following my blog and have told me so.

Shoplift Gallery

This is an illustration I did for the Shoplift Gallery.

Shoplift Gallery is basically an art collective I am a part of which has members who work in all sorts of mediums and art fields, which is really cool for inspiration and sorting out exhibitions (which there have been a few, and any future ones i will post here!).

You can find them online at:

www.shopliftgallery.co.uk

Definately check it out, it's very swish. Every few months they do a project which is open to the public as well as members, and the most recent was brief was entitled 'Greed', for which I did this cheerful yet greedy dragon. The worst kind. It was definately just a bit of fun to relieve some stress!

Bologna Children's Book Fair

I thought it would be a good idea to enter the Bologna Book fair children's book prize this year. This year is defiantely a year for firsts (referring to me starting the blog. Oh, and jumping into a freezing cold river in the middle of nowhere...i did that for the first time this year as well).

This illustration, as well as the previous post, are parts of my entry, which is all about a kid being bullied by a troll. I really look forward to actually going to the festival next year, regardless of how well this does in the competition!

Err...

Aaaaaactually, I lied, I may post ONE more thing tonight, just to get some final artwork up there! This is from a personal project I'm working on at the moment. This time, I'll keep quiet.

FIRST POST.

Whoa. I've been thinking of doing this for some time, and I don't know why, but suddenly the time seems to be NOW. Welcome to my blog! I hope this shall be enjoyable and useful to us all, or at least add fuel to all those procrastinating hours.

I'm quite busy witha few various projects which I shall divulge pretty soon, but for now, and to celebrate my first post, I thought it would probably be a good idea to post a picture. So I did. A quick cheeky sketch, if you don't mind!

Cheers for now!
